I made it for 6:45 am the rest of the crew was already hard at it as they were there again waiting for the building to open!  All the specials had to be in the ring for 8 am and you want your entries looking their best for first impressions. April

April 29th, 30th  CSSA Nationals  & Hub City - Saskatoon Sk.

Where did those days go, it was a wonderful national however too much crammed into 2. 25 days. I missed so much as between the National events and the all breed shows.  Congrats to the host club SASSA who were able to pull it off but personally the 1st National hosted by SASSA in the Bessborough Hotel has never been able to be topped!

We started the National out with Breeder Sweepstakes where Havoc and I placed 2nd next to the lovely female of Jenna's in the Open class.

Then the hustle and bustle started at 6:30 am Friday morning to be ready for Puppy Sweepstakes under judge Joanne Pavey.   Our beautiful girl Ch. Zesta Azure Blue - Aurora was measured in and placed 2nd in the class on to Veteran Sweeps where Tessa - Ch. Zesta Queen of Swords at pushing 10 in September said why did you make me leave the farm? I love home and despite sauntering around the ring at a snails pace she placed 2nd.

Then to try and watch a few minutes of Obedience where Anja, Linda and Nancy were busy with numerous Zesta shelties getting them in and out of their classes.

Heath - Ch. Zesta  A Knight's Tale RN owns Nancy Tyler picked up his first qualifier in Novice B - 3rd in class.

Abby - Ch. Zesta Wanna Be Blue CD RA owns Linda Snider picked up her 2nd qualifier in Open A for a High in Class and placed 4th in Class for Brace as the comedic relief duo. The roars of laughter could be heard in Hall A at the conformation ring, where I was fetched to watch this duo thoroughly embarrass Linda but still managed to qualify!! The belly laughter and tears was a great break from the seriousness of the conformation side! Thanks Abby and Max for making the obedience side of our sport so entertaining!

Baron - OTCH & ATCHC.  Zesta Baron Von Otto AGX OAC TN-N TN-G OJC NCC SMADC  SAGDC SMTRDC SMJDC SMSDC the most titled Zesta dog thus far owns Anja Neumann qualified in Utility for a High in Class.

Max - New A-Ch. Zesta  A Knights Tale RE owns Linda Snider qualified in  both Team HIC and Brace (the 2nd half of the comedy duo) 4th in class.

Kaiser - participated in veterans but after such a long day and the hurry up and wait aspect went down on his sit.

Suri - owns all of us and qualifies in Novice B as well.

After the entertainment of the obedience ring  it was a quick back to the CONFORMATION ring to watch the official classes get started where

Edge - Zesta Wynning Edge won his class

Angel - Zesta Northern Crossing won her class

Suri - Zesta Blue Heaven went 3rd in her class

Tessa - went 4th in her class veteran class

Then we moved on to RALLY obedience where again   Anja, Linda and Nancy were busy with numerous Zesta shelties getting them in and out of there classes.

Suri -

Sport - Ch. Zesta Sportin' Blue received his 1st leg towards his RN

Party - Zesta Party On completed her RA title

Max - A-Ch. Zesta A Knights Tale CDX RE completed his first set of pairs.

I totally y missed the Agility ring but know that the following Zesta Shelties had qualifying rounds:

Heath -

Suri-

Tug

Hub City  - Carbon was reserve winners male under judge Fred Dewksbury and Aurora was Best Puppy!

April 16th -18th, 2010 - Edmonton AB

Well, Edmonton was interesting the 100th Anniversary Shows were not as large as we have seen in the past but we were kept busy with the Sheltie Specialty Obedience and Rally Trials and then the All Breed and Conformation Specialty . Friday saw Zesta Perfect Match - Alfie receive a High in Class from the Open B class. Suri, Dayna, Alfie, Maxwell, Kaiser all receive qualifiers in Rally with Anja, I think one or two were High in Class, and Linda Snider had qualifiers with Abby and Max in Rally as well. Great job Ladies and of course Sheltie kids. In the All breed - Ch. Zesta Ready To Go was best Puppy in Breed and Zesta Pandora was Reserve Winners female. On Saturday at the All Breed - Ch. Zesta Azure Blue was Best Puppy in Breed. At the Specialty, we think that this time we have new Altered Champion Zesta A Knights Tale CDX  RA handled by Gabe deBoer and lovingly owned by Linda Snider. Sunday saw Ch. Zesta Ready to Go  be awarded Best of Opposite Sex.  If I missed anything I am sure the ladies will let me know.

April 2nd-4th, 2010 - Red Deer AB

Another fabulous weekend! Jenn and Gabe did an awesome job and came away with a couple of new champions and few ribbons this weekend! On Friday Aurora completed her championship and Sawyer went reserve winners male all weekend. On Saturday our junior puppy boy Zesta Ready To Go - Freddy was Best of Winners on Saturday and Sunday to become new champion! Sawyer continued to be the bridesmaid! Panda decided that after being the bridesmaid on Saturday she was moving right on up to winners for her first set of points!!

March 13 & 14th - Calgary AB

Bobbi Morton took her Sport son Ch. Zesta Highland Storm Ryder  to the Calgary show and went reserve Winners Dog on Saturday and then Best of Winners to finish on Sunday under Breeder Judge Marilyn Mincey. Huge Congratulations Bobbi & Ryder!

February12-15th  Brandon MB

On Sunday, Freddy -  Zesta Ready To Go was awarded his first set of points and Best of Opposite Sex.

Thank goodness the rest of the weekend improved with Zesta Smarty Pants owned by Monique Cheung going Winners Dog and Puppy in Breed on Saturday.

Friday started the weekend out on the wrong foot when as Jenn says we write this up as an experience and will never show to this judge again. As a judge I too find this very frustrating! If you are questioning size  PLEASE MEASURE.  Jenn was furious that a judge who was questioning size on  our exhibits who were all within size  but refused to measure and placed anything that he thought was larger to the end of the line, he used his arm rather than the wicket, asked the exhibitor the size. Our standard has a 3" spread which is a lot. This ring saw a judge who requested the wicket at his table and used it as a tool to intimidate exhibitors. In fact he was overheard to say to his steward see I told you we would cut entries with the  wicket here.  When in fact 2 entries were pulled because he REFUSED to use the wicket and with the shenanigans that he was doing in the ring we could not be assured that he would measure properly and that our Shelties would have a positive experience rather than being man handled with his lack of knowledge in measuring procedures.  We later heard another excuse was that he did not measure because he did not have a tape measure to check the wicket with.  A tape measure is a standard piece of equipment in my judge's bag right there beside the breed standards!

February 05-07th  Calgary  AB AKC

Well the year started off with being the Bridesmaid but quickly moved up to the winners circle!

Sunday - Zesta Rockstar wins Winners Male and Zesta Highland Storm Ryder Reserve Winners Male Way to go Gabe and Bobbi!

Maxwell did get a new AAC agility title in January, his AAC Master Steeplechase Dog of Canada title (MSCDC), need 10 Q's for this title.  He is Anja's very first Steeplechase titled dog, Baron is 2 Q's away from this title.  This game is a very fast paced jumpers course with an A-frame and weave poles
